that's whats for dinner....

So one of my passions in life is too cook! It makes me happy to feed people and taste good things.... It has been a growing passion with in the last 6 years. I am hoping to share some of my recipes in the future and would love for anyone to try them too. I am going to be cooking for my sister in laws baby shower in March and have been working on a menu to please everyone. So far I am going to be making BBQ ranch and rosemary Chicken Kabobs, Tortellini in a tomato and chilies cream sauce, and for some colour grilled veggies ( peppers, asparagus, mushrooms, squash and zucchini). I think I would like the guest to snack on an ante pesto tray of meats, cheeses and pickles. Jessica, my sister in law has requested cupcakes.... so in fashion of the party theme which is blue birds... I have come across a vanilla cake with coconut icing and to decorate... well browned coconut as the nest with little birds (cadbury eggs with faces painted on them) sitting in them.... I can't wait to post all the pictures of the shower :) Hope it all goes well.

A Weekend at the lake...

One vomit covered kid later we are at our houseboat... Sun shinning, the smell of fish in the air.. ahhhhh the lake. Two little ones running down the docks with there life jackets on. Zack excited, to get his fishing pole in hand. Nate not knowing what to expect but feels the joy also. As we unload all the belongs, or as my husband likes to call it the whole house, we make ourselves a drink and head to the back deck :) Good times, good conversation with good friends and family start. Zack and Nate dip there fishing lines into the lake hoping for a fish waiting and waiting for something, anything to bite. No such luck this trip. As the sun begins to fall, the children eyes do too... Special memories made again. Can't wait to go to the houseboat again.

A Snow filled New Years

On New Years Eve with friends and family, we took our boys to the snow for the first time! This seems like such a foreign concept to me, since I grew up in the snow, coming from Northern Ontario! It was such a special day for me! I got to show the kids what I did growing up in the winter! We went tobogganing and had a snowball fight. Zack made his very first snow angel :) The trip was one that I will never forget. Here are a few special pictures from that day... We are all excited to go back again :)

A Supercross family

On January 8th 2011. We took our son to his very first AMA Supercross! We had so much fun. Zack got to meet a few of the riders and loved watching the race, but the fireworks not so much :) We also were able to take Zack to Downtown Disney for lunch before entering the pits and the race that day. We got to share a special lunch at the same place (6 years later) his Daddy and I had our very first date! Here are some pictures of the weekend away......

Do girls have balls?

Last night at the dinner table, after fighting my son to eat his carrots, Zack sets down his fork and asks "Mommy do girls have balls? Starring in disbelief, at the words that came out of my 4 years old mouth. My husband and I started to laugh. In a family full of men my son thinks that everyone is equipped with a package. After laughing and Zack looking at us with an confused expression .... my husband proceeded to tell him that girls have balls in till they are 18 and then they fall off !!! Me wondering where he was going with this let him continue.Mike proceeded to tell Zack that then and only then "boys" can start liking "girls"! With that statement Zack seemed satisfied and left to play video games. Thanks Mike for taking this one, although I am not sure I will like the out come of the answer that was given... sometime, some place when I am least expecting it, Zack will willingly share his Daddy's information with the world, I just hope its not when I am around!

time for me?

Its a another yucky day here in supposedly SUNNY California :) Just finished cleaning the house and laying the kids down for a nap... Now it's "me time" for approximately 1 hour :) Have you ever had the feeling, that you can't wait for your young ones to take a nap, but then 5 minutes later you are board or can't sleep yourself? I for some reason, do this more often then I would like. I have been struggling with the whole taking time out for myself, ever since I became a mom 4 years ago. I feel guilty when I shut the door and step into the outside world alone. My arms feel empty and its quite. My husband (who I have been married to for 6 years and the love of my life) doesn't seem to have this problem. He can golf for the day or mountain bike and not have a care in the world.... Will this happen for me? Or is this just what being a Mom is about? Or maybe I secretly like being needed 24/7....
